15 Amazing Uses of Vinegar for Your Health

  • In a 2005 study involving 29 people, participants were given 2 tablespoons vinegar prior to eating.  Results showed dramatically reduced insulin and glucose spikes in the blood that happen after meals. 2

Vinegar can help promote weight loss

  • Linked to the same study just mentioned for diabetes, researches did a follow-up to test long-term effects.  They found that in four weeks, participants taking 2 tablespoons vinegar prior to two meals daily lost 2 pounds, some even 4 pounds, while the non-vinegar drinking group lost none.  Downside: vinegar is not a pleasant drink.  But it may be perfect for slowing your appetite. 2 :)

Relieve sunburn

Decrease dandruff

  • After washing hair, mix ½ cup apple cider vinegar with 2 cups water and rinse.  For best results don’t wash out rinse.  Note: you will smell a little vinegary, so if you’re going to a party you may want to rinse. :)

Ease sore throat

  • Mix 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar with 1 cup warm water, add 1 tablespoon raw honey and gargle. 

Relieve a cold

  • Mix 1 part apple cider vinegar with 1 part raw honey and take this mixture several times per day. 

Clear up chest congestion

  • Pour hot water in a bowl, add a few tablespoons of vinegar, bend head over bowl and inhale mist with eyes closed.  For more intense steam, cover your head and bowl with a towel.

Cure hiccups

  • Mix 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar in 1 cup hot water, add 1 tablespoon raw honey and drink.

Diminish toe nail fungus

  • Soak toes in a solution of 1 part vinegar and 2 parts water for 15 minutes.  Repeat daily until symptoms ease.

Soothe morning sickness

  • Mix 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar in 1 cup hot water, add 1 tablespoon raw honey and drink.

Clean very dirty hand

  • Moisten 1-2 tablespoons of cornmeal with apple cider vinegar, scrub hands in it and rinse.

Smooth feet

  • Add 2-3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar to footbath (~ 1 gallon water), soak 15-20 minutes and rub off dead skin with pumice stone.

Get rid of warts or corns

  • Mix 1 part apple cider vinegar with 1 part glycerin, soak small piece of cotton in solution and apply to wart or corn.  Cover with band-aid and keep on all day.  Change with a fresh compress a few times a day, and repeat daily until wart is gone.

Relieve itching

  • Dab some apple cider vinegar on mosquito bite or itchy skin.  This will soothe inflammation and itching.

Get shiny, smooth hair

  • After shampooing, rinse with 1 part apple cider vinegar and 2 parts water.  Vinegar removes soap film, restores shine and highlights.
